Communication is Essential: a grievance against a particular loan officer

So on the 6th of this month I had made a post about a mortgage broker giving me a call and saying that Jen and I were approved on the loan for a house that we had put an offer on and was accepted. So, since everything else was done, we asked them if we could close early and they said, "Sure!" It's now the 26th and we are having an extremely difficult time getting any information from our loan officer / mortgage broker and we and everyone else concerned has been trying to contact him, leaving messages and such and he doesn't respond at all. In the offer contract the selling bank put in a clause that says for every day after the 28th of this month that we haven't closed, it's a penalty of $100. ($100.00 per day) Jen had managed to get him on the phone at about 4pm today and he said that he hadn't submitted the documents to the title company yet but would call her after 6pm to update her on the status... It's 8:20pm and he still hasn't called and no one can get a hold of him. "Him," referring to Taylor Reese. Up to now, I haven't really been involved much in corresponding with him. It's mainly been Jen and the real estate agent that have been working with him. All I really know is that time and again in the past 20 days, since he called me letting me know we had been approved, there have been many times when he's promised to call Jen right back with information and then he seems to just drop off the face of the earth. All communication ceases. Needless to say, we aren't really going to close early at all. Jen and I are concerned that we might not even close on time. In which case I'm very tempted to make Mr. Reese pay the late penalties. In any case, if I don't hear from him first thing in the morning, since I already have 1pm set aside (he had told us earlier that we would be closing Tue. at 1pm), I'm going to go into the mortgage office and have a serious talk with his boss. I'm not too excited about getting someone fired but when you're dealing with extremely large sums of money you had better get you head in the game or you'll be back packing groceries into bags where you don't have to worry about much of anything. »
